Bitumen

Penetration grade, PG, VG bitumen, bitumen emusion and polymer modified bitumen

Bitumen, dense, highly viscous, petroleum-based hydrocarbon that is found in deposits such as oil sands and pitch lakes (natural bitumen) or is obtained as a residue of the distillation of crude oil (refined bitumen). BS group produces high quality bitumen which is called refined bitumen. In fact, this type of bitumen is a low-grade of crude oil which is composed of complex, heavy hydrocarbons. This bitumen is a black or dark-colored (solid, semi-solid, viscous), amorphous.

Most refined bitumen is used in the construction industry. Mainly, it serves its use in paving and roofing applications. 85% of all bitumen is used as a binder in asphalt for roads, runways, parking lots, and foot paths.

Bitumen is classified base on different test method as Penetration grade (classified by different penetration range), Performance grade (PG) which is classified by its performance indicated in different temperatures and Viscosity grade (VG) that use viscosity as a parameter to classify bitumen.

BS group produce different grade of bitumen with high quality VB in different standard classification as you could see below:
